At Miami University the emphasis of my mass communications major was media management. I took that path to get broader exposure to marketing. I also learned production skills via the extracurricular production practicum. My first job after graduation involved shooting and editing video as a freelancer. I've always maintained an interest in production and own a prosumer camera myself. I've had the opportunity to work with a lot of talented people while producing a variety of videos and multi media pieces throughout my career. I've written scripts, casted actors and models, selected voice over talent, directed, edited, shot, carried tripods, burned my hands on lights and shot a live country band for two hours after setting up all the staging for 14 hours straight. I've posted a few of the videos and animation projects I've been involved with over the years.
I managed the production of this series of videos while employed at Convergys. The attempt was made to put some visuals and bring to life what Convergys offers. The videos were designed for selling purposes but they were also used for internal initiatives as well. I worked with a talented group from Panoptic Media who shot and edited the videos. We'll never forget working with each other because we were on our way to Orlando for a shoot on September 11, 2001 and we were in midair when tragedy struck. We were grounded in Knoxville and secured the 2nd to last rental car to drive back to Cincinnati. The purpose of sharing these finished projects is to demonstrate my ability to bring fairly esoteric/nebulous concepts to life from start to finish.
AK Steel was a client while I was employed at Iacono Productions. They were introducing this new antimicrobial coating to the food industry. Bob Leubbers of Iacono produced this video that was used as eye candy at the tradeshow where this new concept was introduced. We burned the video to CD and designee a nice jacket for it and it was handed out as a leave behind at the show. I served as project manager and account executive.
Here we were simply delivering an overview of one of Convergys' core offerings. We utilized a mixture of stock video and live action video we shot ourselves.
I worked with a local Indian video production company to acquire most of this footage and then had him ship it to us here in Cincinnati for the edits. It was designed to introduce Convergys' offshore services.
The most widely used of these videos, this one delivered a high level overview of what Convergys was doing for it's existing client base and what it could do for prospects.
This video was intricate because it was designed to communicate one of Convergys' technological advances at the time. It involved live action video shot in San Francisco and some complex animation also done in San Francisco and then edited by local production house PPS. There were 2 versions. The first was animation only and the 2nd video involved the live action video.
A looped FLASH animation can be perfect eye candy at a trade show booth or used as a walk-in piece to a presentation. The first animation was used at Vertex trade show booths and some first time sales meetings. It was designed to provide an overview because the company was virtually unknown in the markets where we exhibited. I wrote the copy and my friends at Red-Hawk Technology designed and programmed it.
